It is also the name of our research, writing, teaching and facilitation initiative. olo exists to help individuals, churches and other organizations to know how they can creatively minister to the whole needs of a person. We encourage people and organizations to be intentional in being creative in each of the four domains. We are also passionate about helping them to know what it means to be healthy and well as people and organizations. The focus of olo is on how creativity benefits us as people and organizations physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Kev W Wood Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) Bachelor of Theology (Arts/Bible) Master of Visual and Performing Arts (Theatre) Bachelor of Social Work "Kev use the arts effectively to communicate significant issues." As the founder of From The Top, Kev W Wood has acquired knowledge and skill in physical arts, and other areas, from training and experience. and has served as the founding President of From The Top Arts since 1991. From The Top is a registered charity. Kev's training has included learning from several arts Masters throughout North America, and studying at a post-secondary performing arts college program in Pasadena, California. Kev holds undergraduate degrees in theology, fine arts and social work and a graduate degree in the performing and visual arts. He has taught and directed the physical arts at the post-secondary level as adjunct faculty. Opportunities have included Kev performing and teaching in nine Canadian provinces, approximately 35 U.S. states, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Australia. Kev's wife, Becky, is also a talented performer and has performed with him. Kev has choreographed over 100 physical theatre pieces, written over 100 drama sketches, and a number of one act plays and sketch scripts. Kev has been a performing member of two physical arts troupes and facilitated the establishment of several others. Kev has experience in church ministry. He has served as a church board member. I don't have samples at the moment - but I will try to play around and get some low-tech ones and/or do some animated on Photoshop. B) The blue and white logo is a sample from another 'olo' entity. C) Web domain tentatively to be 'olo.community'. It's nice and short, and is available. ((It could be olocreative.community - but there are one or more other entities called 'olo creative'. ?)) [2) Above - a rough, initial, working draft seeking to allude to the reason for existence, purpose/mission and vision for olo Creative Community. [ 3 We will have A) a logo (see #1 and #2) and also B) a primary graphic - thus most of the graphics below. Our logo won't be a medicine wheel (as per immediately above) but I've included one here to illustrate how the 'o' (circle) and 'l' (line) of the word 'olo' can also be used to draw such a relevant ((logo or primary)) graphic ((as per my comment in #1 above)).] [ 4) Okay, so I really like this graphic (visually - more than the content to the left and right). While this one may be a doman of resilience, the word 'creative' and/or 'wholeness' could be put in the centre circle where 'coherence' is on this one.] [ 5 ) I don't like the schematic quite as much - although the text is a bit more applicable.] [ 6) A different look, with a similar word in the middle - where 'creativity' or 'wholeness' could be put.] [ 7) Re: #3-6 and #7 here - whereas this one has 5 domains - I favour four domains - with (('social' or 'community' or)) 'relationships' A) permeating and/or B) overlaying ((i.e. being one larger circle behind)) and/or C) other?] [ 8) Ditto, and further, to #10 - and it's inclusion of the word 'social' - I like the use of the word 'community' here - the other words not as useful .] [ 9) Interesting the the word 'spiritual' is in the centre, overlapping portion here.] [ 10) Included to show another graphic look - while still using a circle and lines.] [ 11) ditto to #10 = Included to show another graphic look - while still using a circle and lines.] [ 12 ) While not what we'd use for a primary/key graphic - the look is consistent, and the various headings and content could be useful for individual blog posts.] [ 13) The text in the four quadrants has potential for later blog post use - i.e. the implementation of the creative and arts in the local church and its programs/events. - Creatives Connecting | From The Top Arts
From The Top Arts has been achieving positive artistic impact through the performing and visual arts since 1992. This includes physical arts, dramatic arts, physical theatre and other areas of the arts. From The Top operates from a Christian world view. Creatives Connecting Creatives Connecting is a virtual, common interest small group. It provides an opportunity for creatives/artists to connect and interact online - regardless of where on our great planet a person lives. The book The Heart of the Artist (by Rory Noland) will be read and discussed this fall by means of a private blog. Group members are responsible to obtain their own copy of The Heart of the Artist by October 7. For those who are able to attend - our Creatives Connecting small group will get together in person in Winnipeg twice this fall. Creatives/artists who are able to commit to being a part of Creatives Connecting participate by reading one to two chapters of a book - that is relevant to creatives/artists - one week, posting responses to questions the following week, reading another one to chapters the following week, and so on. In striving to ensure a safe and respectful online environment - posts are moderated. This fall and winter we will be reading and responding to each of the chapters in The Heart of the Artist . A second book relevant to creatives/artists will be read and discussed between January and June 2020. Kev Wood has acquired knowledge and skill in drama, physical theatre and other areas of the arts from training and experience. After graduating from Tyndale University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Theology in Bible and Arts, Kev joined Steadfast, a physical arts team from Tyndale, that same fall. When the group recessed for the summer, Kev auditioned for and joined 4 Crying Out Loud (formerly Neon), a Christian physical arts troupe. Kev has also received training as a Mime that has included an emphasis on the Classical style of, and training from, the renowned French Mime Marcel Marceau. In June, 1994 he received an invitation for a personal (1:1) two week course in Classical and Expressive Mime at the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Academy of Performing Arts in Cambridge, Ontario. Kev has also trained with Mimeistry International (now Innovo Physical Theatre) where he studied under Todd and Marilyn Farley, Mimeistry's co-founding directors, both at a summer workshop in Michigan and then in the Journeyman class at Mimeistry's residential school in Pasadena, California. Todd and Marilyn both studied at Marcel Marceau's International School of Mime in Paris. Kev also attended Master workshops taught by Marcel Marceau in New York City ('99 [2 weeks], '00 [1 week]) and Ann Arbor, Michigan ('99 [1 week]). In October, 2004 Kev also trained for one week under Gregg Goldston out of New York City. Gregg has performed with Marcel Marceau. I would like to commend From The Top, the arts organization led by my honourable friend and Christ honouring servant of the Lord, Kev Wood, to whoever has occasion to engage their services. From The Top exists due to unique needs for ministry and instruction in Mime, Musical Sign, Drama and other areas of the performing and visual arts. By God's calling and enablement, we're a distinct ministry that seeks to serve. Now in our 24th year, From The Top has been booked by more than 350 churches and organizations on over 500 occasions. - Keneesis Arts and Q2Q Arts Training | From The Top Arts
This page provides information about instructional services and rehearsal opportunities with From The Top Arts. This includes physical arts, dramatic arts, physical theatre and other areas of the arts. From The Top operates from a Christian world view. Keneesis Arts - and Q2Q Arts Training Kev and his wife Becky lead Q2Q Arts Night at Riverwood Church Community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Q2Q Arts Night is a weekly training and rehearsal evening where members of the physical arts small group ‘Keneesis’, small group/troupe in collaboration with Riverwood, have the opportunity to learn and practice such areas of the physical arts as Drama, Mime, Musical Sign and Flags. Music Sign is the signing of songs but is not the equivalent of the signed interpretation of songs in American Sign Language (ASL). For joining Keneesis, no previous knowledge of sign language is needed. There are two age groups: ’12 and Older’ – including adults, and ‘Under 12’ – Grades 1-6. Members, if wanted, may have opportunities to perform with Keneesis at various services, events and programs. Currently serving as a registered clinical social worker in child welfare, Kev's passion is to facilitate the betterment of the lives of others. Kev's wife, Becky, is also a talented performer and performs with Kev and From The Top. Becky loves her vocation as an early years school teacher in which she has served for almost 20 years. In the past, Kev has served on church staff as a producer of services and a creative arts director. At Riverwood Church Community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where Kev and his family worship and serve, Kev has served as a volunteer as the video camera operators team lead, video editor, video director and small group leader. Kev currently leads PiiiX Photography Community at Riverwood. Becky enjoys leading, teaching and supporting with Riverwood Kids on Sunday mornings.
